I have been asking for a nice camera for my birthday. I know these things aren't cheep so I suggested that Joe go in with his parents and my parents and maybe even Santa Clause and use this opportunity as a birthday AND Christmas gift! Last year he got me a guitar because once I mentioned that I wanted to learn how to play. So, I'm hoping that since I am constantly talking camera talk he will get the picture (no pun intended!).
I am convincing him that it will save us money in the long run because I will be our photographer. No more super expensive sitting fees and printing packages, just me and a lens (or a few...) and maybe even some photoshop software? Pretty please?
I love taking pictures of people (esp my kid, if you haven't noticed) and I have a decent point and shoot digital camera, but I would love, love, love to be a little more creative with the photography.
I read blogs and see really cool pictures moms take of their kids and I think, what a cool keepsake. Not that any old picture isn't a cool keepsake, but there is definitely a beauty that goes along with creative and professional looking photos.
Some of my favorite pictures are on blogs like this one, and this one and over here. Oooh, this one is super cool, too. And Katie has a great camera and has captures some sweet pictures of her girls.
So, if any of you have a camera that you LOVE or know of a great camera to capture life in a crisp, bright and exciting way feel free to let me know!

I have a Nikon D60 and I love LOVE it! I'm still learning all of its tricks and tips but the great thing is that I purchased it at National Camera Exchange and they give you two free classes to teach you all the important things you need to know. With all the extras I purchased it came to about a thousand. I'm very satisfied with it!
I hope you find a great camera under your tree this year :)
I have the Nikon D80! LOVE Nikons, but you can't go wrong with Canon D-SLRs either. I would recommend the Nikon D40, and then you have more money to buy lenses, which is the most important part anyway. I have the perfect lens for portrait photography, I'll have to send you a FB message with more details :)
Oh, and definitely go with National Camera Exchange. I took their beginner D-SLR class and it had lots of great info.
Thanks for the shout-out!! Photography is the best hobby ever.
Yeah, we have the Canon but everyone I know who has a Nikon loves it too. Also, one thing to check out before you purchase Photoshop (which I think is really hard to learn how to use) try downloading Picasa for free. It's great for editing and good for beginners!
oh wow, you guys are great! Thanks for the info!!! I'll pass this along to Santa :)
