Dallas Stars

Last Saturday we celebrated Joe's birthday. Joe has a slight sinful idolic obsession with Mike Modano and the Dallas Stars so I got us tickets to Wild vs Dallas in honor of Joe's birthday. But, since the game was before his actual birthday I surprised him. And it was fun!

I had him thinking that we were going to a surprise party that night. He was asking me questions all day about Dan's Non-existent Surprise Party, i.e. When is Dan's actual birthday? Do you think there will be a lot of food there? How are they getting Dan there? and so on and so forth. And therefore, I was telling lies all afternoon and it was killing me!

Finally (finally) it was time to get ready. My plan was to tell Joe I was going to pick out an outfit for him (which I often do when we have important events to attend!) and then lay out his Stars jersey with the tickets on the bed and let him do the math.

He showered, I hauled Silas around with me as I gathered up the clothes, laid out the tickets and made the special note.

Joe opened the bedroom door to this:

and he initially thought I wanted him to wear his Stars jersey to the surprise party, and we was excited about it :) Then, after I thought he for sure had enough time to read the note and see the tickets, I said, "WE'RE GOING TO THE GAME!" And then the rest is history. He was so excited. Almost as excited as I was to present the surprise.




This year I actually got decent seats.
