I got a ton of the party ideas from Pinterest....Surprise Surprise!!
I served pulled pork, hot dogs, crust-less PB & J for the kids, fruit skewers, chips and trail mix. Pop was out on the deck in a wagon, juice boxes are in the metal bowl and the water pitcher is pictured below ;-)
And this was a stolen idea. I froze lemon slices in cupcake tins to make lemon ice cubes.
We don't host parties often, but I feel like every time is a learning experience. For the first few, even it was just a small dinner party, I would forget big things like napkins or not have enough spoons. So, I thought I covered all of my bases until after the party when I realized that I never refilled the chip bowl ( anyone want any ruffle chips? I have a few bags sitting in my pantry.), I forgot to put a towel in the bathroom for people to dry their hands (whoops!), and buying a helium tank and blowing up balloons the night before was a fail. The balloons didn't even last until morning. If I think about that one piece of it too much I still get mad. Those cute cow-print balloons for nothin' . Aw well, worse things have happened.
I ended up ordering a cake from Grandma's Bakery. Thanks, Rachel, for the suggestion. I told the designer to do a cowboy western theme and to let her creative juices flow. I was very pleased with the adorable and delicious cake.
I tried to stick with the cowboy theme without stressing myself out.
Bandanna napkins, cow-print and red balloons, red table cloths with daisies in canning jars as a center piece, a cow pinata, western flag banner with western/cowboy scrapbook paper, cowboy hats and sheriff badges as party favors and canning jars as drinking glasses.
The party booth was set up like such.
Sydnee did a great job of assisting with props.
Veda eating at the chalk-top table. And my half dead balloons. Still sad.
Sam and Rachel. Two of the SIX expectant mothers at the party!
Pinata Time.
The majority of the children were too young for the candy. The idea was fun, though!
Moments before this Silas asked me if he could go take a nap.
He hung on for some singing, cake and ice cream.
The cake melted in our mouths and who can pass up Bryer's vanilla ice cream? Not this cowboy!
Not long after I laid him down and he passed out.
A true sign of a successful Birthday Party!
Thank you to everyone who made this happen!
