Fifteen Months
The baby is 15 months old! And those blue eye are definitely staying. They look almost a white/gray in the direct sun. It's pretty amazing Joe and I produced this child. She is about as recessive as they come.
Because I have one of each gender people often ask me if I can tell a huge difference between the boy and the girl. I'd say the one big difference, and this probably has to do with gender and also just who they are, is communication. Veda talks all the time and is so interested in learning new words and copying our words. She will study our mouth if we say a new word and try her hardest to mimic us. Silas didn't give a hoot about words or talking. He always met the benchmarks for his age, but never excelled in that area. At all. Veda is saying Helicopter and Octopus while Silas was content with Momma, Dadda and Duck for the longest time. Otherwise, they are both rowdy and rambunctious. Veda is definitely more extroverted. She loves to be the center of attention, never gets shy and will run up to anyone for a hug. Silas is an introvert, loves the arts and to create and play on his own. They do compliment each other well and I am interested to see how their relationship changes and grows as they grow up. How fun! I always wanted a sibling close in age. You're welcome, kids!
Anyway, on to Veda being 15 months old.
Height 32'' - 90%
Weight 26.5lbs - 90%
I feel like she has really grown in the last month. Both physically and mentally. She is looking more like a toddler (a little less bow-legged) and understanding and interacting so much more. She understands a lot of commands and says a new word everyday. She also has a very hot temper. If she doesn't get her way or wants someones' attention she will stand in the middle of the room and scream at the top of her lungs. Like someone said to her, "Ready, set, scream!". I have no idea what to do about it other than to say 'no scream'! She also is a hitter. How embarrassing. No one wants a hitter. The Dr told me to just remove her from the situation. Dr. H kept on calling Veda 'spirited' at our 15 month visit. Silas was sitting nicely on the table with his blanket and there is Veda trying to maul him, rolling all over the place, sticking her hands down her diaper. Oh dear!
I'd say Veda is very independent; she would love to be able to put her own clothes and socks on. She insists on feeding herself so things like yogurt and oatmeal get interesting. Wants nothing more than to know how to color like her big brother and will NOT let me correct her/ flip the crayon around so the color gets on the paper, and has an attention span of a gnat when it comes to television.
New words:
octopus - aahhpapa
helicpter - haapop-pop
oatmeal- meao
apple- aa-ohh
fish- dis
Nemo -mee meow
num num - ah ah (she says this when she's hungry)
blankie - baaay beee
baby - baaay beee
up- up
sock- ock
tickle tickle tickle (as she tickles our feet!)
yes- yesssss
snow- owe
shoe- sue ( like the oo in boot)
Elmo
She will say peoples' names if I ask her to repeat me, but she only remembers 'Silas.'
New Moves:
-Goes down the stairs alone. Backwards on her belly. She is confident enough where we can essentiallly take the gates down. Huge milestone in this house!
- Points to her: eyes, nose, hair, ears, belly and toes
- Says animal noises to: lion, cat, dog, snake, monkey, penguin, duck, sheep, horse, elephant
She is a daddy's girl through and through. The moment Joe walks in the door she is panting and waving her hands around and saying, "Dadda, dadda!" They have a sweet bond that is really fun to watch. I'd say as of now Veda prefers Joe 75% of the time if we're both in the room. I'm only a little bit bitter. ;)
She loves to play with Silas and Joe and I both agree that in the last few weeks they have been able to play nicely together for an extended amount of time. It's like a little light at the end of the tunnel. For as rough, tumble and dramatic as she is she has a sweet soft spot, like if Silas is laying down she will go and rub and/or pat his back. It is very sweet and we praise her for it so she thinks it's really fun and gets a huge grin on her face and eventually starts clapping for herself. She also loves to hug and snuggle her blanket and stuffed animals....and us, too!
Happy 15 months Veda, you make us all so happy!
