We have survived our first week of potty training. I know, what a boring post, but it is seriously so exciting for me. I have been dreading this for YEARS. All of the horror stories about potty training, especially potty training boys. I dabbled in it a few times just to realize that he was so not ready. I've heard the magic number was 3 so we waited and sure enough 3 was our number.
He is really getting the hang of it. Fewer accidents each day and I am also learning about how often to take him to the potty. He has yet to tell me he has to go, so I still have to really watch the clock and think about what he has been eating and drinking, but progress is being made.
Now, if someone can clue me in on how to get him to POOP in the pot my life would be complete! :) I always hear not to push anything especially in the potty department because it is such a developmental phase. I've tried to rush him to the toilet when I know he's about to take a dump (and why do that they it that anyway? Shouldn't it be leave a dump?) But that just turns into frustration and tears. I've offered him books to read on the toilet, but that just turns into along book reading session in the bathroom. Needless to say, I've been cleaning up poopy undies. Not fun for anyone.
I remind myself that he won't be pooping in his undies when he's 12 so there will be an end to this.
On a fun note...how cute are three year olds' butts? My goodness, I could squeeze his tush all day! And his poor little jeans don't stay up without a bulky diaper. He runs and they fall so most of our days are spent in shirts and boxer briefs.

yay! good job silas (And Mommy!!!)
What did you end up finding that worked? Proud of you!
PS- Levi has been "potty trained" since August but just in the last three weeks has stopped having accidents and finally stopped pooping in his pants. It finally clicked. Not saying he won't have them ever again, but it is a drastic change from having to drag him home from parks and playdates and chickfila because he pooped his pants. Silas will get it!!!

Thanks! I basically just followed your advise and put him in undies, took him potty every hour and stayed away from TV. It worked! :) :)
