Birthday Bash

We held a little shindig in honor of Silas' 2 nd Birthday on Saturday night.  

The menu included:

Sloppy Joe's

Pasta salad

Homemade salsa and chips

Fruit salad

&

Fish cupcakes!!

I saw these in a magazine and thought they were easy enough for me to tackle. They turned out pretty cute!

I made these Friday evening and as I was putting Veda to bed and Joe was doing the dishes Silas got into the green food coloring. 

I didn't know all of the ruckus was going on until I walked into the bathroom during bath time and saw Silas was bathing in green bath water. I was confused until I saw Silas had green feet and then I put everything together and imagined green foot prints all over our rugs. Thankfully it didn't get that far before Joe intervened. 

Here are his post-bath feet. Still a tint of green. 

Besides the green episode on his Birthday party eve, everything went really well.  

Silas loved seeing his favorite people.

It is way more exciting for me to see my child get excited over something than for me to do something exciting myself.  I couldn't wait for him to wake up from his nap and see all of the balloons. I was counting down the minutes until his favorite people came to celebrate his special day.  And it was so joyful for me to see the excitement in his face as he opened new gifts.  This is one of my favorite parts of being a parent!

And this is what the party looked like when it was all over.  

Silas had so much fun he slept in until 9:45 this morning! What a great Thank You gift!
