Breaking Bedtime News

I just have to document this out of pure joy....it has been well over a week now that Silas goes to bed by himself. I know, I know, most 18 month olds do, but this is big business over here.  One of us has always rocked him to sleep and if Silas wasn't sleeping when we laid him down he would cry.  We would just let him cry until he went to sleep, but still, he would cry.  And for the most part I enjoy rocking him to sleep. I pray for him and snuggle him and watch him rub his blankie on his face.  But when those rocking sessions last for 30 minutes I get annoyed at myself for allowing such nonsense!

The good new is that tonight marked night 8 or 9 where one of us rocks him for a short time and then lays him down, rubs his back for a second and leaves and there is no crying. I thought for sure tonight he'd break his streak because as I was rocking him his eyes were wide open and he was whispering to himself. After we were done rocking I laid him in his crib, rubbed his back as he squirmed around and then I left knowing full well he was wide awake. As I was closing his door I was waiting for a wail and to my surprise there was only silence...well besides the hallelujah choirs singing in my head!!

Perfect timing, Silas....now I don't need to worry about rocking two babies to sleep in a few months!  Actually, I'm hoping this little girl won't be so needy and that I won't be such a softy the second time around.

Good job Angel! Anything you are able to overcome whether large or small with your babies seems so wonderful huh? Way to go Silas!

Ah, the hallelujah choirs!! We have those here too sometimes :) Good work! I am told there is just less time (sometimes) for rocking baby #2, #3....#4 ;) So they just naturally get better at it...fingers crossed, right?!
