Mah!

So, he officially says "more" but it sounds more like "mah".  I have been so bad at teaching him sign language and the last few weeks I have really been regretting not teaching him some basic signs because instead of the sign all I hear is a big fat wine! He wants more food...whine...he's done eating...whine...and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Every so often I will say, while he's whining in his high chair, "You want more food, Silas?" and then as I say more I take his hands and do the sign. He just thinks it's funny. Then we're both laughing as I am saying, "more.." over and over again.  Once, about a month ago, I thought maybe he signed "more" and it was in context as he was sitting in his high chair. It looked more like the universal Time Out sign but I cheered and clapped and he laughed just to never see that sign from him again.

The last few days I have been really drilling him with the more sign and the word "more"....seriously, anything but the grunty wine...ahhh! I was rocking him to sleep with a bottle for nap time (as you can see this whole lose the bottle thing has gotten thrown out the window!) and when he was done with his bottle he scooted out of my lap and stood by the door saying, "Mah! Mah! Mah!" I looked at him and said, "More?" Then he said something in between mah and more and then ran down the hall. I chased him asking him if he wanted more and he did the sign! Guys, he did the sign!! Not the Time Out sign but the More sign....100% and I freaked because he got it!

And now that I'm blogging it he will never do it again because that's how it goes.

And along the same page I have been working on "where is your belly?" Twice he has patted his belly when I asked that, but otherwise he just cracks up. I think he actually knows exactly what he is doing, he just likes to see me get frustrated and repeat myself over and over :)

And if you're wondering why we threw the whole only one bottle at bed time thing out the window...here is your answer:

We are pregnant!!!!!!  Which also  means I am tired! Which also means I will revisit the bottle issue once second trimester hits and I have the energy to switch up our routine. So until then, Mr. Silas will be basking in his bottle glory before nap and bed AND in the mornings shall he decide to wake up before 6:30am.  Because how easy is it to lay in bed with a baby sucking on a bottle for an extra 20 minutes?

The bottom test was the first test I took which was, as the box advertised, 6 days before most pregnancy tests can detect the pregnancy hormone.  The line was faint, but it was there!

We're thrilled and excited to meet this little one sometime around December 4, 2010.  Mah babies for us!
