- Joe's business is BIZZYY! Since we live off a seasonal income that is super good news; even though he occasionally works later nights and isn't always "here". Even if he's physically here we often have the same conversation twice because he wasn't "here" the first time. Grace. I give him grace :)
For example: We met at the gym the other day and as we were walking in together I said, "I have chicken thawed for tonight." He replied with a, "Sounds good!" After we got done working out we met up by the locker rooms and he said, "Man I'm starving...what should we do for dinner?" I reminded him of the thawed chicken and he had zero recollection of the chicken conversation as we were walking in. Zero!
- Spring plus the busy season also means hiring employees. This is something I used to be heavily involved in when I worked with Joe. I would weed through the applications and set up interviews. Now Joe's office staff in in charge of that job and every so often when they come across a funny application they forward it to Joe and Joe forwards it to me. The funniest part of most of the applications is their answers to What is your greatest accomplishment? I read stuff like: stickin to what I do best. Or....a whole in one. And what Joe is looking for is something more a long the lines of: Contributing to the cure for Cancer. Ok, not that drastic, but maybe something work or school related? And then there are the applicants that don't actually fill out the application but instead just reply to the add on Craigslist begging for a job, I mean BEGGING. "I am a really hard worker and I be really good at lots of things and I can clean windows and show up on time." I know, classy!
I also used to be able to listen to the interviews (since they were held in our 1,000 sq ft condo where we used to office). And it is crazy how honest people are about their criminal records. They will sit and list the crimes they have committed. Let's juts say Joe doesn't hire them on the spot! Just too risky when these people are in your customers' homes.
- For Silas and me at home Spring means sunscreen and stroller rides. Early mornings (thank you sun!) and tired nights. Dirty little hands and calloused feet. Rocks, sticks and slivers. Squishing bugs and rolling in mud. And of course playing outside with Daddy after work!!
