We took a last minute trip to Big Sandy last week and had a really great time. We invited Sydnee in on the fun since there were girls there her age and she's such a great help with our little ones. She had fun and we had help, it worked out great!
Silas was so excited to have Sydnee with us on the trip that he held her hand and fell asleep. She was sweet enough to hold on for the two our trip.
The kids went tubing. This is minutes before the boat started and the front of the tube sunk in. Sydnee knew to move back, Silas fell in and came out the back end of the tube. He was fine and even wanted to go again. But that was a scary mom moment for sure!
Here is where we spent most of our time. My cousins and their families were renting this cabin for the week. While we slept at the lodge at Big Sandy Resort, we spent our days here.
The little boys loved the kayak. They are old enough to figure out how to jump in a paddle around the swim area.
We ate breakfast every morning at The Roasting House. I love this picture of the girls.
There was a water trampoline at the resort. It was a total hit, but with the weather being chilly in the mornings Joe rented a kayak for an hour to taxi the kids back and forth. Sydnee was brave enough to swim, but that wasn't the case for the rest of us.
The rope swing was super cool. Hidden away in a little channel. Silas is holding on to Joe in this one. The water was cold and the day was a bit brisk as well. Silas got a little panicky once he hit the water, but wanted to go again. I thought this was a pretty cool picture!
All the kids at the rope swing pit.
An evening stroll on the pontoon.
Jack and Eddy. Cousins and two peas in a nothing-but-trouble pod!
Snoop the Dog. Veda had a love/hate relationship with him. She was very scared at first, but within minutes she was bossing him around, "Snoop come here!" She is our animal lover. And Snoop was a natural with the kids.
Tubing. Can't be up north on a lake in Minnesota and not tube.
Veda and Nora. Two feisty bonds. They had their fair share of, "That's MINE!" moments, but overall they played well.
I handed Joe Veda's outfit for going out to dinner and told him she could wear her swim suit as undies. This is how he thought the outfit went. She isn't crying because her clothes are on wrong (she was happily playing like this), she's crying because it was Silas' turn for the ipad.
I fixed her outfit for this picture.
A successful trip for sure. Big Sandy, we will see you again!
