Joe and I were sick: I know, this update is hoppin' with goodness. Joe was down for the count like I've never seen before. We thought for sure influenza. But turns out it was just a bad virus. I got it as well, but a much lesser version. The kids were untouched (Praise God!). Once we started taking 50,000 iu's of Vitamin D we started to turn a corner. And we are all healthy, now. So far (knock on wood) neither of the kids have been sick this winter. Even with them in school, I'm shocked....and loving every second!
The Breakfast Nook: No update there. I know. It's like it can't get installed soon enough and I am so excited to have it finished, but when it comes down to me painting I can't seem to do it. Silas rarely naps these days so that means I paint after they go to bed and that is just not happening. I also went to JoAnn's to look at fabric, and just as I suspected it was so overwhelming. What is timeless and not boring? Such a first world problem!!
Although the Nook is not finished, it is still able to be utilized. Joe playing Settlers of Catan with some buddies. They have been known to stay up in the wee hours playing this game.
I got to attend a birth: My friend gave birth in a tub at her house last weekend and I got to see it all go down. Ah-Mazing! It was fast and furious but oh so miraculous.
Lighting is bad (she only had Christmas lights on), but this is where they put baby Eden in her arms.
We are back at music class: We took a break while we did swimming lessons for a few sessions. And since Silas refuses to put his eyes under water we refused to pay for him to keep on swimming at the same level. Plan is to take him swimming ourselves and get him to be okay with his eyes under water before we do lessons again. Hasn't happened yet, but our intentions are fantastic! So Thursday mornings we do music and turns out a little girl in Silas' preschool class is in our music class, and her little sister is in Veda's Monday class as well. Pretty sure Silas has a crush. I've never seen him like this with a 'friend' before. He leaves me to sit by her and her mom. They hold hands and giggle. He sits in front of her and she wraps her arms around his waist. During the lulabye they lay by each other. The moms get a big kick out of it. And little Josie awkwardly asks us to come over and play after music every time. I'm loving that Silas is making friends and enjoying his social interaction with other kids his age at school. Warms my heart!
Right now: Veda should be napping, but the kids are downstairs. Veda is naked and Silas is in his undies. They have taken all the cushions off the couch and are jumping. All I hear is Silas say, "Waya, wanna hold my hand? Waya, hold my hand!" Sometimes I just have to pretend I don't know what's going on or else life gets too overwhelming and rigid. :)
Basement: It's getting framed up next week. If any of you follow me in Pinterest I'm sure you put two and two together and figured we were on the road to finishing our basement. We have things measured and taped off down there. And it turns out I have really expensive taste. Whooops!
Mornings: For the last week Silas has been getting up really early and coming into our room. He'll go to Joe's side and say, "Daddy, will you lay with me on the floor?" So Joe will make a little blanket bed for them and they'll lay on the floor until it's time to get up. It really is sweet. This morning Veda was already in bed with us when Silas came in, so she heard it all go down. She says, "Daddy, can I lay with you?" Joe pretends he's sleeping for he knows she won't lay but wiggle. Then Silas says, "Daddy, Waya's trying to tell you something." Eventually she makes her way in their floor-bed and minutes later the kids are giggling. Soon Veda is saying she's hungry for pasta and Silas is requesting Super Why. I was laughing inside and pretending to sleep in bed. These are the days, right? We'll look back with a smile and remember these fun, but so early mornings with the little ones.
Silas skates: Joe took Silas skating Tuesday night. I stayed home with Veda and I could tell Silas felt really cool that he got to go with dad skating. He bent down and kissed Veda on the lips before he left. Joe took a video of Silas skating on his phone (which I don't know how to get on the computer) and when he got home he told me Silas licked the ice and his tongue got stuck. A little blood, but no tears :)
The kids are obvi not skating here, but I am having them play outside to burn of some energy. They are at ages where they can play outside and for a longer period of time and entertain themselves. Glory!
Last but not least, FLORIDA! T- 12 days. We will be vacationing with the same family we did last year. And also there will be a Squeegee Squad convention, so some work and some play. We are all looking forward to some sand and sun! Veda is getting ready....
