Mini Vacation

We went on a little trip over the weekend. Joe took Friday off of work and we headed to Madeline Island with his parents. I didn't have high expectations for the four hour car ride, but the kids were troopers and we made it up without any stops. Toward the end Veda was getting fussy and so I kept on feeding her teething biscuits. Which resulted in a big mess, but a happy girl!

The weather was a little chilly and windy, but the view was gorgeous!

Silas loved exploring the condo. He spent most of his time putting his toys in random baskets, climbing up and down the stairs, sprinting from the door down the hall and back, eating snacks at the big table and...

Jumping from the chair to the suitcase to the couch.
He is at the perfect age to be completely entertained by a new place!

We spent Saturday in Bayfield doing some sight seeing, eating and shopping. The leaves were amazing and the view of Bayfield from the ferry reminded me of New England. Stunning!

The kids 'shopping'. Don't they look thrilled?! They actually did really (REALLY) well being carted around in that stroller most of the afternoon.  Silas was the Buckle Cop making sure he and Veda were both properly bucked in at all times while the stroller was in motion. ;)

The ferry ride!

Grandpa and Grandma gobbled up the kids.

They gobbled them up so much that Joe and I often felt like we were on a little vacation alone.  We got to eat dinner alone both nights, we went out to coffee by ourselves and also rented mopeds and rode around the island.  I was definitely not expecting such great alone time with my better half, but the Grandparents insisted on watching the kids and we took them up on their generous offers! Thanks guys!!!

Moped-ing was super fun, but woah was it windy and freeeezing! We froze our butts off admired the leaves and the lake on our ride to the beach and back.

I drove so slow on the way to the beach (Nothing wrong with being too cautious while operating a motor vehicle!) that we had about seven minutes to enjoy the lake before we had to head back. I drove a LOT faster on the way home. Mainly because I thought my face was going to fall off if it was exposed for more than it had to be.

Overall, fantastic little get-away. We are already looking forward being on the island again!
