I think she looks like Silas did as a new born in this picture. I don't think she looks like him otherwise.
She loves to sleep with her hands above her head. She is laying on a blanket behind me doing this same pose.
My floppy Binky lover
In her Christmas pj's with Mr. MonkeyThis is probably the latest phone picture taken. Look how she's grown.
She has her well child check tomorrow and I am guessing she has packed on quiet a few pounds. I have had to put away her new born clothes and she is now eating closer to every two hours than every three or four. She continues to be a easy-going content baby. I can think of two nights since she was born that she hasn't gone right back to sleep after a feeding. She does prefer to be held, but because holding her all day isn't an option she puts up with the swing and bouncy seat pretty well. She also loves to be laying flat, but I don't always trust Silas around her if I lay her on the floor. Not that he'd intentionally do anything, but he is usually running around or climbing on things in any given room so the chances of her getting a butt or foot to the face would be pretty high!
I continue to be amazed at her floppiness. She is just a warm, limp hand-full in my arms and it's so sweet. I swear Silas was standing the day we took him home from the hospital. I'd hold him up on my lap and he'd flex his legs and literally stand on my lap. Not the case with Veda. She prefers to sleep and snuggle. I move her from my arms in a cradle position to over my shoulder and I realize how fragile and petite she is as she flops around.
Besides the completely different pregnancy, labor and delivery Veda is a very different baby than Silas as well. He screamed, she sleeps! It's lovely.
And although Silas was a wiggly screaming hand-full as an infant he has proven to be one heck of a big brother. He hasn't shown any signs of jealousy (knock on wood) and has yet to try to poke her eyes out. He is mostly still oblivious. A few times I have briefly left the room and have come back to see a some blocks sitting in Veda's lap and that is when my heart melts. Sometimes if she's crying he'll go sit by her -- or if she's crying in her car seat he'll rock it back and forth to try to calm her down. He only says her name or gives her kisses if we ask him to otherwise he keeps his distance.
And honestly, I think he enjoys that my time and attention aren't always with him because then he can get into mischief and I won't know! Today I went upstairs for a few minutes to check my email and let him watch some cartoons. I came down to a naked Silas. Alls I'm sayin'
Actually Joe came home and found him downstairs naked. Here he is attempting to at least prevent poo and pee all over the house.
