Official 38 week picture. I think this was more like 38 plus some days.
I no longer get my hopes up when I lay in bed and feel my stomach tighten, my back ache and my belly cramp. I usually wake up each morning and ask Joe if the baby is here yet :)
And something somewhat related. My cousin's wife, Jenny, filled up a suitcase of hand-me-down baby girl clothes for me and sent it along with her MIL (my Aunt) Nancy to MSP for Baby G. My aunt Nancy, Uncle Paul, their three kids and 8 grand kids all live in various cities in the New England states. When Nancy and Paul showed up for a visit over Thanksgiving with a suit case filled with baby girl clothes I was so surprised and overly excited! Thank you cousin (in-law) Jenny! Here is just a glimpse of the 13 bloomers that go with coordinating dresses. Plus swim suits, sun hats, and ruffle-butt rompers. Baby G is sets for summer 2011.
And something totally unrelated. Between week 38 and 39 I turned 29. The number 29 is pretty weird. Just like Diana Carter says in Strawberry Wine: "I remember when thirty was old..." Now, 30 isn't that old. Or maybe I am getting old and am in denial :) But there are signs of me aging (or maybe it's that I have a little one at home and I can't roam around Target and leisurely page through their magazines...) but I am so out of the Hollywood loop. Not that it matters or that I really care, but those of you who have known me personally for a number of years know that I used to be a Hollywood gossip junkie. Not really proud of it, but I would watch E! religiously and loved to read People cover to cover (it helped that the family I nannied for subscribed to it!) I always knew who was with who, who was expecting and what celebrity wasn't naturally endowed. That is not the case anymore. I got a pedicure the other day and was reading an old (as in mid October) People magazine and everything in there was news to me. I learned that Melissa Rykroft is pregnant (and just yesterday a friend informed me that she is due any day.), Brad is doing round two of the Bachelor, and I saw a new mugshot of Lindsey Lohan. Then I tuned into Entertainment Tonight the other night for the first time in forever and learned that Jessica Simpson is engaged. I didn't even know she was dating. I phoned a friend to tell them the Big News and she was all...."Duh! Nick Lachey is engaged too." What? Nick Lachey is engaged?!? And then yesterday Joe was trying to explain to me who the featured guest star was on Sesame Street. A good looking guy, actor. He couldn't explain it and I hadn't a clue. Then after church we stopped at Super America to get a coffee and Joe came back to the car telling me that the actor he was talking about who was on Sesame Street was also on the cover of People for being the sexiest man alive: Ryan Reynolds. Who in the world is Ryan Reynolds?! I remember back in 1997 when Brad Pitt was on the cover with his long blonde locks posing as the sexiest man alive, but I don't know who Ryan Reynolds is. Is this a sign of letting myself go? And to top it off, while watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade I didn't know who half of the performers were. I know it's totally meaningless information, but gosh does it make me feel old when my 66 year old mother knows about Jessica Simpson's engagement before I do.
Besides the reality check of me not being in the loop anymore, Birthday # 29 was great. I feel so blessed to have a wonderful husband and baby boy to celebrate with me. Joe is ringing in year # 27 tomorrow (Monday) and I'm hoping that I can deliver this baby as his gift!

For shame on not knowing the celebrity gossip! You must get a People subscription ASAP! ;) I am thankful every Friday when mine comes in the mail, ha.
Here's hoping you go into labor soon!
I don't know who Melissa Rycroft is?! But I feel the same way, I also feel like I don't even quite know the fashions - I swore this would never happen to me! If you have any time to waste after Silas is in bed and you are looking for a great romantic comedy - watch Definitely Maybe starring Ryan Reynolds. It is one of my favorites! And hopefully if you plan to rent and watch, baby G comes instead! Thinking about you these last few days!!
Snow! Ang, you look great. B's birthday came and went and you didn't have baby girl then so I guess any day now is okay with me. :) And I am the same way with celebs now...well, pretty much since I left the Kristo's and their People subscription. Also, I think The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds is cute too. I know how much you love movies. :)
