A while ago while I was blog stalking I came across a blog and the post I was reading had a picture of this little girl in this adorable dress.  The writer/mother of the girls said that the dress was handmade by a friend.  I saved the picture thinking that if I ever had a little girl I'd like to attempt to make a dress just like that.

Yesterday during nap time I decided to give it a try.  My mom gave me some of my niece's old dresses and so I took an 18 month sized dress and used it for sizing.  I used old scraps that I had (actually, they are used sheets I got from the thrift a while back) and went to town. The first thing of anything I attempt to make is always the worst one, naturally.  I figured if I just tried to piece some fabric together and make it look decent, when it came time to make the real dress I would more-so know what I was doing.

I didn't hide the seems very well and I haven't figured out how to do the back buttons, but here is what I came up with...  And here is my preoccupied model.

He was watching Word World so I quick slipped off his shirt and put the dress on.  I tried to get him to stand so I could take a picture, but no can do.  All he was concerned about was getting his 'baybee' (blankie) back.

And as always, the blankie gets shoved in a ball right under his face to snuggle with.

Alright, I hear the ending music to Word World...time to turn off the TV. Crossing my fingers there is no protesting!

Cute, Ang! You're so good at just figuring things out on your own!

Cute dress, and I'm wondering what your husband must think of using Silas as a model and taking pics, I think Brad would be mortified if I did that ;) You are so crafty!

I'm assuming this pic will show up in Silas's rehearsal dinner slideshow one day. Love the dress! (Reminds me of a certain apron I own that a certain someone made me....)

Joe wasn't a huge fan of my idea to dress up our son in a dress and take pictures....but he took it better than I expected :-)
