Silas and I ventured to Auntie Gwennie's this morning for some coffee, chit chat and a crib bumper tutorial. And of course she threw in some lunch and cookies, too!
I brought with me Silas' current crib bumper for a pattern and the fabric I purchased for Baby Girl's nursery. Gwennie cut the fabric for me, verbally explained what to do and sent me home with some batting to fill the bumper ( and...two tomatoes from her garden, some sandwich seasoning, a pattern for a potato steamer bag, some fabric scraps and two bags of ribbons). She said to call if I got stuck in the crib bumper making process.
Yikes!
Joe went to the Twins game with my dad this evening and I was determined to wear Silas out enough for him to go to bed early while still saving some of my own energy. He was out by 7:40 and by 7:50 I was measuring and cutting, and lining up and sewing.
It's now 10:15 and the bumper is coming along. And taking longer than expected. It's 'easy' but tedious, I guess. And I am NOT a perfectionist by definition so I have to force myself to do it right and not rush to get it done. I like things done right, but it seems like I like to see the finished product more than I like it to be perfect!
It's pinned and still needs ties to tie it to the crib and ties to keep the batting place, but the shape is there :)
I took Silas's bumper out while he was sleeping to make sure I was right on with the measurements. Thankfully he wasn't snuggled up against and I was able to slip it in and out without a peep, and double thankfully I was right on with the measurements.
The colors aren't exactly right in the pictures, but I guess the idea is there. I've got the YELLOW walls and the orange-brick red bumper and that's it. I have one little window, some empty walls and a small budget to work with -we'll see what comes of the Little Lady's nursery.

Love it! Good job Angel!
impressive, Ang! I'm having my MIL do all of my sewing because I just don't have the patience. The nursery is coming together great and I can't wait to see the finished product!
Looks great - good work!
