This morning we got dressed up in big boy clothes and went to Auntie Gwennie and Uncle Lloyd's house. Gwennie invited us over so we (I) could see the recent crafts she has been working on. She is the craft queen. Word has gotten out that I have a sewing machine in my house and she has been all over me with craft ideas. Crafts as in doilies or coordinating quilts and valances. Great things, but I guess I would not say she will be starting a DIY decorating blog anytime soon.
I mentioned to her that I had made some handbags/purses and so she wanted to show me the purse she just made for her daughter's friend. I was embarrased to show her my lame excuses for a purse after she showed me hers complete with pockets, lining and a button. Her two daughters were never into crafts and my mom has told me that when I was little and showed a liking to anything crafty (coloring, glitter, glue, stencils, etc..) Gwennie was excited to have a little crafty helper. I remember spending time at her house making Christmas ornaments as a child. And in college she taught me how to quilt. And there is talk of her working on making a ruffle purse with me this summer!
Silas really enjoyed snuggling auntie Gwennie. I gave him a bottle of water to wash down the meatloaf sandwich and pumpkin bar she gave him (true grandmother fashion!) and he wanted Gwennie to cradle him while he sipped away.
He was just making himself at home in her little lap. Flailing his feet around and enjoying his bottle. Oh Silas, if you get any bigger you wont fit in Gwennie's lap anymore.
