So far 12 months has been a hit. The begining months are fun too...the first smile, giggle, rolling, crawling, grabbing, ect. Those events are all really exciting, but when the little one starts to connect and understand, that is when it really gets fun.
Every day Silas and I entertain eachother and laugh our heads off. He just gets it now and I absolutely love this little man of mine.
I took the picture because I thought it was cute how he was snuggling Snoopy. When I saw the picture I realized it wasn't such a innocent picture afterall :)
- Most days Joe will call and I will have him talk to Silas via the phone. Silas smiles and laughs. Yesterday he grabbed the phone from me and pressed it against his forehead and nose. He gave Dadday/the phone some love. We often put our foreheads together and smash our noses as we hug. It was so neat to see the connection that Silas made
- I unzip his vest and he knows how to take it off. It's just funny to watch such a little guy take his vest off!
- A few months ago I taught him how to go down the stairs backwards. Since then I would set him up and he would go down backwards. Now he does it on his own. He lays on his tummy and pushes himself back until he reaches the stairs and then scoots down. He has also realized that getting off the big bed and a big chair entails the same technique. Again, fun connection.
- Somehow he always finds something to put in his mouth that isn't supposed to be in there. He'll get a hold of the top of my contact case, a gum wrapper, dried up noodle from the night before and the list goes on and one. He'll put the object in his mouth and come find me and start laughing and running away like, come get it, momma! I chase him down as we are both cracking up, tackle him and fish the object out. It is kind of annoying that he finds these things to put in his mouth, but it's so cute that he knows what I'm going to do when I see him. Or he'll run by me giggling with something he knows he can't have (my glasses, a pen, one of our shoes...)
- He hugs and kisses his stuffed animals. Mainly his duck. It's a common thing for one year olds to do, but I think it is such a great connection. He gets hugs and kisses from us and so he gives them to his toys. So sweet.
- When we play outside he is obsessed with the rocks and will often hold one up to his ear like a phone.
- If Joe and I are talking Silas will ofen jump in with his opinion and babble really loud so he can be a part of the conversation.
- The other day Joe had a business dinner and so I was with Silas all day until bedtime. I was tired and Silas was fussy. I decided to give him a tour of the house in a valley girls' voice. He thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. Probably the hardest laugh he has was busted out!!
