This was not my original idea in how the bar would look. I wanted white. I don't have a white kitchen and am always drawn to the look in photos, so I thought doing white in the basement would be my chance. We talked about it with Jim the designer, and he saw my vision and was on board. Then when it came time to actually pick out cabinets he was suggesting to do walnut. Walnut equals Carol Brady's kitchen to me. May as well put up some green and orange wallpaper! I was fine with walnut upper cupboards, but no, not all walnut. Jim was on board with with that, but kept reminding me of my WHITE trim and the WHITE sewing room wall and the light counter tops. He explained while a white bar would look nice, all walnut would be better. It would pop out and be more timeless. Joe was beginning to see Jim's vision and soon was totally into the walnut. I trusted Jim, but was still wanting white. So I slept on it and looked up all of the walnut kitchens on Houzz at least a dozen times, went back and forth a dozen more times and asked a few friends with good taste to help. And eventually settled on walnut!
When the counter tops, appliances and backsplash is in it'll look more like I envisioned.
