Trick-or-Treating

First stop: My parents' house. Silas was running a low grade temp so he was a little low key, but he still managed to get pretty excited about the whole candy thing!

Veda stood there looking at me/us forever, but we couldn't get Silas to hold the sign and look. That is when I stepped in.

We took the wagon around the cul-de-sac to collect candy.

Third Stop: Joe's parents' house. We showed off the costumes to the grandparents and then went to a few homes on their street as well.  It was great weather for being out last night. Veda was warm enough in a few shirts and her costume and Silas was plenty warm in his hobo attire.

There was a group of trick-or-treaters that came as we were inside Grandma and Grandpa's house. They were either adults or really older kids.  Their costumes weren't meant to be scary, but Silas got frightened of the faces painted as a clown and a joker and he freaked out. He started shaking and crying and saying, "That's scary!" I comforted him and said they are just pretend and they are not scary. Then he looked over to where Veda was standing and he couldn't see her and he absolutely lost it. "Veda!! Veda!! VVVVVEEEEEEEDDDDA!!" (think super high pitched panic girl scream). I told him Veda was right there (pointed to her) and that she is just fine. Once he saw Veda he calmed down a bit and I reassured him that everyone is okay, there is nothing scary and then distracted him with coloring. A) That is why I am not a fan big of Halloween (the whole scary evil crap!), but B) it was very sweet to see how protective Silas is of his baby sister!  Keep it up, big bro!!
