Operation Organize: Mud Room

Phase I: Message Center

The main thing I wanted to accomplish with this space was a place to store mail.  We get personal mail and also Joe's business mail on a regular basis.  Now I have a spot to store them separately and now Joe knows to look in the 'Business Mail' slot every morning before work and take with him his mail. This eliminates a pile of mail sitting on the bench, or better yet, on the floor by the door.

The cork board acts as our hanging-important-things-board since our refrigerator isn't magnetic.  Good for invitations, Save the Dates, Birth Announcements, coupons, etc...

The calendar is a great for organizing our life in a way that my husband can follow along.  Instead of me reminding him what our weekend entails he can just look at the calendar.  I kid you not, the other day he glanced at it and in a surprised voice announced some event we had going in.  Now he has no excuse for not remembering our plans!

And the "A" was a clearance item at TJMax that had been sitting in our basement waiting for a home.  It serves as a great dry erase marker holder!

And what you don't see is the pen scribbled all over the bench.  Thank you, Silas!!

Stay tuned for Phase II.  It may or may not include shelves and baskets.  Alls I'm sayin' :)
