Bah Humbug!

I openly admit I am kind of a Scrooge and this year is no different. We I took down the tree three days before Christmas.

I couldn't take it anymore.

It was dead and droopy and dry.  Silas was constantly taking off ornaments and either throwing them, taking them apart or inserting them in his mouth. And most of this ornament slaughter was happening while I was tied up feeding Tiny. I was sick of giving him empty verbal threats as he would laugh and run away with the top of a ornament bulb and hook sticking out of his mouth.

So one afternoon number three (in a row...) where my toddler refused a nap I decided that anything in my life that isn't beneficial has got to GO. The dead Christmas tree was on the to of that list. ( Next on my list is pens.  Every pen in our house is being gathered and locked up because if I see another pen mark on anything other than paper I may just lose it!)

I called Joe after I took off all of the ornaments, the lights and the angel and explained what was going on. He was a bit confused but just rolled with it.  The plan was to store the tree in the garage until after Christmas so the neighbors don't think we're complete kooks having our dead Christmas tree outside of the house before Christmas.  As it turned out, the tree was too big to haul through the kitchen and into the garage so it is currently sitting outside by our front porch.

And I figure this is the year to take the tree down early if any. The kids are too young to get it and being three weeks postpartum gives me a good excuse to be irrational!

But it's okay because our stockings were still hung on Christmas.

This was before we said good-bye to the tree....
