Third Time is Not a Charm

I'm trying to make these cute necktie onsies for little boys-- and I'm failing miserably.  Thankfully, I've only ruined one good onsie since the other two were purchased at garage sales.

                  THREE                                                 TWO                                                 ONE

ONE- my first attempt. Not a fan of the shape and it's not straight
TWO- second attempt...used interfacing this time- it clearly didn't help. Tie is super messed up.
THREE- best out of the three, but needs some serious work still

A friend of mine made a few and made it look SO EASY.  I guess I need to swallow my pride and use an actual pattern and also iron on the tie with Wonder Under before I sew.

The ragged edge is for the 'vintage' look. Once I get this down I'll iron down the edges for a more professional look :-)

Hey girl - I think they are looking fun so far. Another thing you can do instead of ironing on before you sew is just pin. When I pin something I pin it so that the pin is going the opposite direction as the stitching and then take the pin out about 1 inch before it gets to the needle. Just an idea.

Love it! Keep having fun with it :-)

tried pinning! they're too small for it to be a benefit. i usually pin bigger projects, thought, and it's a great help!

Since you know you are having a little girl I thought I'd share something with you that I thought was super cute. It's a dress made out of a pillowcase. The place I saw it had them where the pillowcase had decorative things on the edge (which was the bottom of the dress) and then the person used ribbon to make the sleeves. It was super cute.
