Ready....Set....

Go!!

There he is saying Go! Well, it's more like Doe, but it's grossly adorable.

And since you are dying to find out about his healing progress from shingles- they are almost all gone! You can see some faint bumps on the right side of his chest and that's basically what's left of them. He has similar bumps on his back as well.  They never bothered him and for that I am so grateful! I know some people have been hospitalized from shingles because they were unable to manage the pain.

It's also good to know that we have got chicken pox out of the way, too!

Along with the grossly adorableness of almost being 18 months, we have also entered the dreaded tantrum phase.  It's all fun and games until we have to go inside. And I swear the neighbors must think I'm an abusive mother because I'm sure they see me hauling a kicking and screaming toddler in our house against his will numerous times a day. Although the tantrums can me loud and annoying, they are usually short lived.  He is still easily distracted by fun and exciting things (like kitchen utensils and his blankie (or as he calls it, 'baby') ) which makes the forgetting-why-he's-upset-in-the-first-place process go a little faster.  But still, tantrums are no fun for anyone.

Overall, although strong willed, he is a good little boy! As long as he can be physical (pushing things, hauling things, tipping things over, balancing on things, rolling around things, jumping on things...) he is content.

I remember when Silas was probably 8 weeks old.  I tried to get him to self-sooth himself to sleep for naps.  I would lay him in his bassinet and stand behind him (where he couldn't see me) and wait for him to fall asleep, often times holding a pacifier in his mouth.  He would lay there and kick, and kick, and lift both of his legs, then do some more kicking and when he got bored he'd wail until I would eventually rock him to sleep.  I guess I should have see that as foreshadowing his future as a constant mover!!
