Sorry, blogger isn't letting me upload pictures...
Sixteen months is here and we are loving it. I feel like he is saying and understanding and doing more and more each day.
New words:
-boat
-baby
-peek a boo
He will often copy what we say but I'm not sure I can't count those as true words. No until I hear them in context
(Imagine a really cute picture of Silas here!)
He signs 'more' for please and more, which is fine because it's better than a whine or grunt. And he understands quite a bit. I can give him simple commands and he'll follow through: put it away, throw it away, hold mama's hand, go get daddy, don't eat it (he doesn't always follow that one...hence the button I found in his poo the other day!)
He also started grabbing my hand and manipulating it to do something that he wants it to do (push a button, grab something, turn on the faucet, help him in some sort of way.) He will watch me do whatever he wants me to do and after he has learned it by watching he will copy my actions and do what I was doing. That has been a fun connection for me to watch.
He loves:
baths, outside, animals (seeing and hearing them), Grandpa Jon, Music Together Class, food, climbing, snuggles, PBS, anything new (people, places, toys), the vacuum, airplanes, dancing (especially to the Temptations with Grandma Jean!)
He doesn't love:
being strapped in (high chair, stroller, car seat, grocery cart), diaper changes, inside, fireworks, applesauce (must be the texture he doesn't like because he will eat an apple whole!)
Because of his love for the outdoors we spend almost all of his awake time outside. It's 7am and Silas is banging on the deck door to go outside and play!
Humor:
For quite a while now he has been laughing at things that we would do that he thought was funny. Now, he does funny things himself and it cracks us up.
Today he was at my parents' house and my dad smelled a stinky diaper and said something to the effect of Silas having a gross diaper. Silas plugged his nose and laughed.
Silas will also tease us to be funny. He will pretend that he wants to be all done with something 'fun' (bath, swimming in the pool) and puts his hands up in the air and say 'all done.' I will say, "Do you want to get out?" and he'll say, 'Nooo' in a deep throaty voice and big smile. He thinks he's just about as funny as we do.
Helper:
Loves to help me do anything from unload the dishwasher to scrub stains out of the carpet. As long as I let him help me he does pretty well with the task. He loves to help Joe sweep the garage, too!
Our little man is getting so big! We can't wait to see him as a big brother :)
