Carver Park

Over the weekend we got together with a couple we met in our birthing class.  We decided that since the weather was so nice we would meet at a park and have a picnic lunch.  We always have a good time with Connie and Des and of course their little girl McKenzie.

Silas and McKenzie are only one month apart.  McKenzie has about 3lbs on him, a good inch and two shoe sizes...and she's the younger one!  McKenzie is a big ham.  Always squeeling and making funny faces.

Silas was Mr. Serious just scoping out the joint seeing how far away he could run before we would grab him and wanting to be one of the big kids and climb on the equipment. I thought the two little ones would be more into each other.  I think maybe in a more intimate setting like a living room they would've interacted more.  Silas was mainly into sticks; one in each hand the majority of the afternoon.  And McKenzie was into the food.
It's fun for me to see what tendencies are just because of the age and what are particular to Silas.  I've noticed that not every one year old has to have something in each hand at all times (ie sticks at the park).  The volunteers at our church nursery also comment on the fact that Silas always has a toy in both hands.  And last night when we picked him up from my parents' house he was sleeping while clenching a golf ball in each hand.

Sweet McKenzie sat in her little stroller and at her food and then demaded more food while we couldn't seem to get Silas to stay within five feet of us no matter what food we offered :-)

It's going to be fun to see them grow up together.
