He also doesn't play with toys the conventional way. He flips them over and if they're pushable, he pushes them. He also insists on taking this caterpillar thing apart daily. Then he waves around the long plastic pieces and bangs them together.

He flipped all of these toys over. He's actually tried to crawl through this bead thing while almost getting his head stuck in there. Oy!And a new thing is him laying on his stomach and playing. What, are you 7? Usually he just falls on his stomach and stays there, kick his feet around and playing with whatever is close.
Speaking of entertaining himself. The other day he was being a rascal about nap time so I finally just put him in his crib and left. He cried for a few seconds and then just started to talk to himself and play. After a few minutes I poked my head in and saw that he was running from one end of the crib to the other and cracking up. It was too cute to get mad at.
I feel like the last few weeks Silas has been more content, which is great! Maybe it's that he's learning to play by himself more, or he's learning to make anything into a toy. It's been really nice. He still is a mischievous little man, getting into everything, but he's definitely less frustrated.
When I get ready in the morning I stick in in the bathroom with me and just shut the door to our bedroom and the toilet. He often times goes into my underwear or sock drawer and grabs some goods and comes out waving them around and laughing. By the time I'm all ready, I have to spend 10 minutes cleaning up his mess :) As long as he's not crying or wining, I don't mind the clean up.
He's also babbling constantly. When I put him down for bed or nap he'll have his head face down and be babbling with his eyes closed; I smile every time. And his babbles are so singy-songy, like he's always asking me a question. And sometimes one of us will be talking to him and he'll babble something back that sounds like a real answer. For example, we took him to the Dr last night because he had a high fever and his left ear seamed to be bothering him. Joe says, "We're going to take you to the doctor to see if you're sick." And what immediately came out of Silas' mouth was, "Inna seek" Which sounded like I'm not sick. Don't worry, that phrase will not go in the baby book as his first sentence. But he was right, no ear infection and he's doing just fine today!

The constant changes and developments are amazing. He knows that hats go on heads and glasses go on faces. And he's a copy-cat. If I'm playing with him and I bang to toys together, he do the same time. Same with noises and laughs. It's fun to notice things that he's understanding.
Cheers to having an almost one year old! We love you Noony!
