A Duathlon. Joe did it last year with some friends and Elise and I decided to sign up for the race this year as an incentive to get back in shape after giving birth :) Our husbands finished 30 minutes before we finished, but we finished! And we weren't last!!I didn't post any pictures of Elise and I racing because I just learned that motions pictures aren't flattering, at all!
Joe forgot to put his chip around his ankle, so right before his wave (men and elite runners) was about to go he came up to me in a slight panic because he didn't have his chip. I gave him mine because a) I knew I was going to have the same splits as Elise since we pinkie swore to stick together) and 2) I didn't really care what my time was anyway.
So, needless to say my name was announced for one of the top three female finishers b/c my name was on Joe's time. HA!
We had a great time and it was a really great experience. Pregnancy really kicked my butt so knowing that I am actually able to get back in shape (and by 'in shape' I mean, I can finish a duathlon) makes me feel that much better about myself after having a baby.
Oh, and our husbands told us that there was one (1) O-N-E measly hill for the biking portion. Joe even said, his words: "It's like a 20 second hill." When in reality, there were at least 5 hills, and I'm talking HILLS! As in you make it up one hill, you look ahead and see another one, that's bigger! I'm actually glad I wasn't aware of the hills because I would've had some serious anxiety!
Oh, also, my husband got up at 4:45am on race day to start hydrating. Yes, I'm serious! And I, on the other hand, over hydrated the day before and it messed up my electrolites so I had a terrible nights sleep. And as you can imagine, we were both up all night peeing...brought me back to my pregnancy days!
But, it's over, I'm done, I survived, God is good, all the time, the end!
