Music Together

The Music Together demo class this morning was a hoot and I am going to become an official Music Together member and sign up for the summer session.

Classes take place at the Valley Dance studio in Stillwater and including myself there were 13 moms/dads/grandmas with their children/grandchildren. Four of the moms were clearly pregnant and one of the pregnant moms had a daughter that was out of control. Clarice (Music Together instructor) said there is one rule...no running. Little Miss Out of Control ran in circles the whole class and I spent the whole 45minutes feeling bad for the mom and smiling at her so she knew at least one of the other moms/dads/grandmas wasn't annoyed.

On the way to the class I tried to talk to Silas the whole time in the car so he wouldn't fall sleep. How embarrassing to bring a sleeping baby to an interactive music class! My plan was a success and Silas arrived wide eyed and ready to party!

There were kids there from new born to probably 2 and a half and I was glad to see the variety because, to be honest, I was a little nervous that although they advertise the class for ANY AGE Silas was going to be the only kid that can't literally participate. Little Matthew, Emmett and Natalie couldn't do much either. So yes, I did a lot of maraca shaking, handkerchief waving and limb manipulating for Silas. He even got to be in my arms as we marched in a circle switching from clockwise to counter clockwise.

Toward the end of 45 minutes Silas was almost asleep in my lap complete with his hands in his drooling mouth. I think we both enjoyed it, though. I am happy to expose him to music and like Clarice said, ' this class will help your baby sing in tune and dance to the rhythm'. Lord knows Silas will need help singing in tune with me as his momma :-)

So, if you're wondering where I am from 10-10:45 on Tuesday mornings, I'll be singing songs with Silas and the other Music Together kids! May this be the beginning of something GREAT!!
